Reading, Pa. (Nov. 28, 2012) - Men's Basketball opens the Commonwealth Conference schedule with a trip to Lycoming College Wednesday evening.

Lycoming College Warriors (3-1, 0-0)
The Warriors are 3-1 on the young season. They opened the season defeating Penn State-Wilkes Barre in their own tip-off tournament then fell to Salisbury in the championship game. They have since reeled off wins over Wilkes and Susquehanna.
Lycoming was selected second behind Messiah College in the Commonwealth Preseason Poll. The Warriors received two first-place votes (one from Messiah which couldn't vote for itself).
Lycoming has four players averaging double-digits in scoring through four games and two of them, Kevin Anthony (15.8 ppg, 1 start) and Patrick Dougher (11.3 ppg, 0 starts), come off the bench. Sophomore Chris Foreman (12.5 ppg) is the leading scorer among three players who have started each of the four games, and Anthyony Martin (10.3 ppg, 2 starts) is the last of the four over 10 points per game.
The Warrriors are averaging nearly 90 points per game after scoring 78 per game a season ago. Alvernia gave up 80 to Delaware Valley in the season opener, but prides itself on defense. Last year the Crusaders finished second in scoring defense (63.4 ppg) in the Commonwealth while the Warriors finished second in scoring offense (77.6 ppg).
Alvernia University Crusaders (1-0, 0-0)
Alvernia has just one game under its belt entering the conference schedule. The Crusaders defeated Delaware Valley 85-80 last Tuesday in a game that featured 64 fouls and six combined disqualifications (two for Alvernia).
Kahlil Bennett, a junior transfer, made his first start for Alvernia and scored a team-high 20 points at Delaware Valley. Bennett shot shot 5-of-9 from the floor hitting 4-of-5 from the 3-point arc.
The starting five last Tuesday featured just one returning starter. Junior point guard
Chris Davis who started all 28 games last year.
In the three seasons since joining the Commonwealth the Crusaders have either missed the playoffs or won the title.
