Reading, Pa. (Mar. 19, 2016) - Summit University (1-2) used strong singles play to lift it to a 5-4 victory over Alvernia University (2-5) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's tennis action at Alvernia.
Reid Hoff gave the Crusaders their first point of the match, defeating Summit's Benjamin Adam in straight sets in No. 3 singles.
Todd Unger picked up Alvernia's other singles play point, winning in the No. 6 flight in straight sets.
The Crusaders claimed 2-of-3 matches in doubles play, taking the No.2 and No.3 flights.
Kyle Clark and
Colin MacCloskey collected the point at No.2 with an 8-5 win, while
Antonio Gaetani paired with Unger at No.3 for a convincing 8-1 decision and the Crusaders fourth point.
Alvernia returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Gwynedd Mercy for its final nonconference matchup at 3:30. The Crusaders begin their conference run on Saturday, April 2nd, traveling to Arcadia.
