Reading, Pa. (Apr. 8, 2017) - Lycoming College (5-8, 1-2) took five of six singles matches in a 7-2 win over Alvernia University (7-4, 1-2) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth men's tennis at Alvernia.
The Crusaders opened the day strong as
Reid Hoff and
Colin MacCloskey partnered to take the No.1 doubles match, 8-5.
The Warriors responded with a narrow 9-8 (7-4) win at No.2 doubles and took the third flight by forfeit to hold a 2-1 advantage entering singles action.
Antonio Gaetani claimed the Crusaders lone singles victory, taking a straight set 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4.
Hoff won his first set of singles play, but Lycoming's Rob Smith claimed the next two sets for the point.
The Crusaders continue their conference schedule on Wednesday, traveling to Stevenson for a 3:30 start.
