Reading, Pa. (Feb. 19, 2020) - Ursinus College (8-3) scored 28 straight points en route to a 34-12 win over Alvernia University (9-8) in a dual match at Alvernia on Wednesday evening.
The Bears started off the night with a 14-4 major decision in the 125 weight class to go up 4-0, the followed that with an 18-0 technical fall at 133 to go up 9-0.
Alvernia's
Brock Drahus lost in a 7-2 decision at 141 and
Robert Lawlor dropped a 6-1 decision at 149 to give the Bears the 15-0 advantage.
Ursinus tacked on four more points with a major decision over
Gavin Hollingsworth and followed that with a 5-1 decision over
Tanner Vogel to take the 165 bout.
Urisinus's Alex Koenig pinned Alvernia's
Caleb Fischer at 174 to put the Bears up 28-0.
Alvernia's
Ali Capobianco stopped the bleeding for Alvernia after pinning Ursinus's Kyle Schaffer in 2:47 to put six points on the board for Alvernia, but Ursinus responded with a pin of its own at 197 over
Tonee Ellis.
The Golden Wolves capped off the night with a 33 second pin by
Palmer Rodenhaber in the heavyweight bout over Ursinus's Gavin Range to make it a 34-12 final.
This evening's match against Ursinus was Alvernia's final match of the regular season. The Golden Wolves have off this weekend and will then head to Messiah on February 28th and 29th for the 2020 NCAA Southeast Regionals.
