Reading, Pa. (Oct. 17, 2022) - Alvernia University football sophomore Marc Kauffman and women's cross country graduate student Cera Gaston were named Alvernia Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of October 10 - October 16, 2022.

Marc Kauffman led Alvernia's defense to its first MAC win since October 2019. Kauffman finished the afternoon with seven tackles - four solo and three assisted - and two interceptions. His first interception of the afternoon was a pick-6 from 25 yards out to give Alvernia the 13-0 lead. With time expiring and Widener threatening on the goal line, Kauffman grabbed his second interception of the afternoon and returned it 27 yards to seal the win for the Golden Wolves.

Cera Gaston took second place in the field of 173 runners at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational at Gettysburg College on Saturday. Gaston finished the 6K course in 22:46.4 to lead Alvernia.
Football is back in action on Saturday at Lycoming College. Women's Cross Country returns to action on October 29 at the MAC Championship at Lebanon Valley College.
