Alvernia Takes Third in Two Events at East Regionals.

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 5 / 6, 2022) - Alvernia University Rocket League and Valorant took third place at the CECC (Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup) East Regionals at Rutgers University on Saturday, November 5th and Sunday, November 6th.
 
CECC East Regionals, hosted by EsportsU and CSMG, featured the top eight teams in the East Region (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont).
 
Rocket League
Golden Wolves Rocket entered CECC East Regionals as the #6 seed. Alvernia fielded an all-freshman starting roster consisting of Braedan Minnich, Jason Tavener, and Michael Peffer.
 
In groups they fell 0-3 to College of Staten Island (#7 seed) and Stockton University (#2 seed) and bounced back with a 3-0 win versus New Jersey City University (#3 seed).
 
In the first round of playoffs, they faced the #1 seed, Arcadia University. The Golden Wolves went down 0-2 in the series but found the reverse sweep to win the series 3-2.
 
Alvernia University Rocket League fell 0-3 to Stockton University in the semifinals to conclude their CECC East Regionals run in third place.
 
Valorant
 
Golden Wolves Valorant entered the CECC East Regionals as the #3 seed. Another all-freshman starting roster represented the Golden Wolves featuring Orlando Ramirez, Jackson Serrano, Emmanuelle Vargas, Ivan Zhevnov, and Sebastian Lomeli.
 
They started the day with a 13-8 win over St. John's University (#6 seed) on Ascent. The Golden Wolves then fell to Rutgers University (#2 seed), 8-13 on Icebox. Alvernia earned its place in the semifinals with a 14-12 OT win versus Loyola University Maryland (#7 seed) off the back of a 4v1 clutch by Emmanuelle Vargas.
 
The Golden Wolves fell 0-2 to Fisher College (#1 seed) to close out their CECC East Regionals run and finished with third place honors.
 
The Golden Wolves are back in action on Wednesday when they take on Southern New Hampshire University in League of Legends at 7:00 PM.
