Three Alvernia Athletes Earn MAC Weekly Honors

Chapman Named Both MAC and UCHC Player of the Week

Annville, Pa. (Dec. 5, 2022) - Three Alvernia student-athletes earned MAC Player of the Week honors for their performances during the week of November 28 - December 4, 2022.

Malik Green was named the MAC Commonwealth Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Shinelle Felix earned MAC Women's Track and Field Field Athlete of the Week honors, and Isaac Chapman was named the MAC Men's Ice Hockey Offensive Player of the Week. Chapman also earned UCHC Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week honors for his performance.

Green led Alvernia to a 1-1 week in MAC Commonwealth play. He averaged 17 points and 8.5 rebounds on the week. In a setback to Widener on Wednesday, Green scored 14 points and had nine boards. In an 82-65 win to Stevenson on Saturday, Green scored 20 points and finished with eight rebounds and three steals.

Felix led Alvernia's showing at the Fastrack Season Opener with a second place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.44m. She also took third in the long jump with a mark of 5.33m. Felix also competed in the 60m with a time of 8.31 for 18th place.

Chapman finished a 1-1 weekend against Manhattanville with two goals and three assists. In a 5-3 setback to the Valiants on Friday, Chapman recorded two assists in a near third period comeback for the Golden Wolves. In an 8-4 win on Saturday, Chapman had two goals and an assist. He recorded a power play goal to give Alvernia the 3-2 lead. He then recorded Alvernia's fifth goal of the game and assisted on the seventh. 

Men's Basketball returns to action next Wednesday at York. Women's Track and Field is off until after the holidays, and Men's Ice Hockey is back in action on Friday at Wilkes.
