BOX SCORE Reading, Pa. (April 20, 2022) - Alvernia University (9-3, 3-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles action and never looked back as Alvernia defeated Albright College (8-4, 1-3) 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth women's tennis action at Alvernia. 

Leah Bouchard and Lily Summerson edged out an 8-5 win at #1 singles, and Jillian Laughman and Jackelyn Checo Mercado picked up an 8-0 sweep at #2 singles. Rachel Rineer and Sabrina Heck picked up the third win at doubles with an 8-1 win at #3 singles.

Alvernia dropped #1 singles, but Jillian Laughman picked up a 6-1, 6-2 at #2 singles to keep Alvernia up by three.

Rachel Rineer nearly took #3 singles, dropping a 10-4 tiebreaker set after forcing the tiebreaker with a 6-0 win in the second set.

Alvernia picked up wins in the final three singles matches with Summerson taking a 6-0, 6-0 win and Checo taking a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Sabrina Heck closed out the match with a win by retirement in #6 singles to secure the 7-2 match win.

Alvernia returns to action on Saturday, hosting Stevenson University at Governor Mifflin.
