Felix Breaks Facility Record at Bucknell to Lead Alvernia's Saturday Showing

Lewisburg, Pa. (Jan. 27, 2024) - Shinelle Felix and Cera Gaston both broke Alvernia records on Saturday to lead Alvernia's showing at the final day of the Bucknell Bison Open and Mutli.

Felix took first in the triple jump with the sixth best jump in NCAA Division III history. Felix hit a mark of 12.67m to set a new Alvernia Record, a new MAC Record, and a new facility record at Bucknell University - a Division I program. Her mark is currently the second best in DIII this season and sixth best overall in DIII women's track and field history.

Gaston also set her second university record of the weekend with a third place finish in the 3,000m and a time of 10:31.01. Gaston bettered her own record from last weekend at Alvernia by 12 seconds.

Jessie Torres, Isabel Fries, and Rosnelly Sanchez De Aza also had top-ten finishes in their respective events. Torres took 9th in the 500m with a time of 1:25.11 and Sanchez De Aza took 10th in the 500m with a time of 1:25.62. Fries took 10th in the 3,000m with a time of a season-best time of 11:31.25.
