Allentown, Pa. (Nov. 20, 2024) - Alvernia University (1-1) went 1-1 on Wednesday at Cedar Crest College in a women's wrestling tri-match with Felician University and the host Falcons.

The Golden Wolves started the night with a 28-15 come-from-behind win over Felician University. But, an early deficit against Cedar Crest was too much for Alvernia to overcome as the Falcons defeated the Golden Wolves, 28-19. 

The Golden Wolves faced an early 15-0 deficit against Felician after forfeits at 110lb, and pins by the Golden Falcons at 117 lbs and 124 lbs. Trinity Robinson got the Golden Wolves on the board with a win by forfeit, and Alvernia tied the match at 15-15 with wins by fall from Abbigail Kohl and Kathryn Berger for the Golden Wolves. Alvernia kept it rolling from there. Kylie Monroe picked up the third straight win by fall to give Alvernia the 20-15 lead, and Macenzie Hunter secured the match with a win by forfeit. Peyton Fries capped things off with an 8-0 decision at 207 lbs to secure the 28-15 win for the Golden Wolves.

Like in its match against Felician, the Golden Wolves trailed 15-0 early. Alvernia got on the board with a technical fall win from Danielle Ferrara, 10-0 in 2:42, at 124 lbs, but the Falcons edged Trinity Robinson at 131 lbs in a 9-6 decision to take an 18-5 lead over the Golden Wolves. Abbigail Kohl led her 138 lb bout heading early in the second period, but Cedar Crest was able to get a quick pin on Kohl to take a 23-5 lead. A forfeit win by Kylie Monroe at 160 lbs gave Alvernia five points, and a technical fall win by Macenzie Hunter at 180 lbs made it a 28-14 match. The Golden Wolves secured the final five points of the match with a win by forfeit by Peyton Fries, but the Falcons took the match, 28-19.

Alvernia is back in action on December 5th hosting Misericordia in a dual at 7:30 PM.
