Rivera, Adebola Advance to Day Two of NCAA Regionals

West Liberty, WV (Feb. 20, 2026) - Alvernia Women's Wrestling opened up competition at NCAA Region II Regionals on Friday on the campus of West Liberty University in West Virginia.

Friday marked a historic day for women's wrestling across the NCAA as six regional host sites hosted the first ever round of NCAA Regionals as 2026 marks the first year the NCAA will sponsor a Women's Wrestling Championship.

Alvernia sent six wrestlers to West Liberty and two advanced to the final day of competition set for Saturday. Both Remiah Rivera at 110 pounds and Elizabeth Adebola at 160 pounds are still alive in the consolation brackets of their respective weight classes. The first, second, and third place finishers of each weight class will qualify for the inaugural NCAA Women's Wrestling Championship in Coralville, Iowa.

Rivera entered the 110 pound bracket as the #6 seed in the bracket of 16 wrestlers. Rivera started her day with a bye before moving over to the consolation bracket with a technical fall loss in the quarterfinals. She then responded with a 58 second 10-0 technical fall win over 13th seed Madison Ridner of Arcadia. Rivera will open her day on Saturday with bout against Eastern's Ana Morales, the #7 seed. 

Adebola entered the 160 pound bracket as #8 seed in the bracket of 16 wrestlers. She started her day with a 9-3 decision over the 9th seeded Charlotte Bowman of Ursinus. But, she moved into the consolation bracket with a loss via a fall against top-seeded Tiffani Baublitz of East Stroudsburg. Adebola then rebounded with a fall in 4:19 over York's Kylie Monroe, the #7 seed. Adebola will open her day on Saturday against West Liberty's Makyah Newlun, the #4 seed.

Rivera and Adebola are back at West Liberty for the second and final day of competition beginning at 11:00 AM.
