Remiah First, Alvernia Third at Inaugural MAC Women’s Wrestling Championship

Doylestown, Pa. (Feb. 1, 2026) - Remiah Rivera took first place to lead Alvernia Women's Wrestling to a third place team finish at the inaugural MAC Women's Wrestling Championship, hosted by Delaware Valley University on Sunday.

Remiah etched her name in Alvernia's record books, becoming the program's first ever MAC Champion after claiming the title in the 110 pound bracket. Remiah earned First Team All-MAC honors for taking first place. She was joined by four other Golden Wolves who also earned All-MAC honors: Macenzie Hunter with Second Team All-MAC at 180 pounds, Perla Matista-Garcia with Third Team All-MAC at 110 pounds, Alana Durham with Third Team All-MAC at 124 pounds, and Elizabeth Adebola with Third Team All-MAC at 160 pounds.

Remiah Rivera started her day with a quarterfinal bye before picking up her first win of the afternoon via a 25 second pin in the semifinals against Arcadia's Madison Ridner. Rivera then secured the 110 pound title with a 10-0 technical fall win over Eastern's Ana Morales.

Joining Rivera on the podium in the 110 pound bracket was Perla Matista-Garcia. Matista-Garcia started her day with a bye in the quarterfinals, and the dropped her semifinal match to move into the consolation bracket. After a consi-semi bye, Matista-Garcia grabbed third place with a fall in 1:03 over Arcadia's Rider, who Rivera also defeated earlier in the day.

In the 124 pound bracket, Alana Durham grabbed a 10-0 technical fall win over Delaware Valley's Taylor Mazzoni to start her day in the quarterfinals. Durham dropped her semifinal bout and received a bye in the consi-semi to move into the third place match. Durham needed just over a minute to pin Arcadia's Courtney Bowyer to grab third place.

In the 160 pound bracket, Elizabeth Adebola opened her day with a bye before pinning Delaware Valley's Kaylee Hudson in just 47 seconds in the quarterfinals. Adebola dropped a narrow 4-0 decision in the semifinals but bounced back with a pin in the consi-semis over Misericordia's Grace Capoocia. Adebola then edged out Arcadia's Eve Kurtz by a 3-2 decision to grab third place.

The 180 pound wrestlers competed via round robin style. Macenzie Hunter started her day with a fall over Maya Kreiger of Eastern in just 39 seconds. She then dropped her second round bout via a fall with just 28 seconds remaining in the bout to fellow 2025 National Qualifier Allison Brandt of York College. Hunter then improved to 2-1 in the round robin with a forfeit win over Misericordia's Annalia Ward. Hunter's 2-1 performance earned her a second place finish and round out Alvernia's All-MAC performances on the day.

Alvernia finished with 50 team points to earn third place at the 2026 MAC Women's Wrestling Championship. York College took the inaugural team title, and Eastern finished in second place. Full results for Alvernia wrestlers are below.
