Alvernia Blows by Misericordia, 33-11

Reading, Pa (December 5, 2024) - Alvernia University took down Misericordia University by a score of 33-11 Thursday night in a women's wrestling dual in Alvernia's PEC.

How it Happened

The dual started at the 131 pound weight class with Alvernia's Trinity Robinson defeating Misericordia's Ahlexa Montalvo by decision, 11-2 to take a 3-1 lead.
Abbigail Kohl then took on Madelyne Stultz from Misericordia in the 138 pound and Stultz recorded the victory by pin over Kohl in 2:35 to swing the lead in favor of the Cougars, 6-3.
Kylie Monroe then took down Kailey Remish by fall in 1:16 in the 145 pound bout to swing the lead back in favor of the Golden Wolves, 8-6.
Kayleigh Kehler then competed against Elizabeth Adebola in the 160 pound match with Adebola recording the victory by fall in 2:17 to make it 11-8 Cougars.
Macenzie Hunter wrestled at 180 pound for the Golden Wolves and took on Sarah Lynn from Misericordia. Hunter recorded a pin in 2:23 to give Alvenia the lead back, 13-11.
Alvernia then received three forfeits after a no contest in the 103 pound match to secure the 33-11 victory over the Cougars. Grace Molloy received a forfeit at 110 pounds, Alana Durham received a forfeit at 117 and Danielle Ferrara received one at 124 pounds to round out the varsity match.
Ferrara then wrestled in an 124 pound exhibition against Misericordia's Madelyne Stultz and Stultz recorded a pin in 1:49 over Ferrara.
Monroe would wrestle in an exhibition as well, but this one at 160 pounds against Janiyah Griffin from Misericordia and Monroe tallied another pin but this one came in just 36 seconds.
Kayleigh Kehler rounded out the exhibition matches and took on Maya Landenfield in the 180 pound bout. Kehler grinded out a close 4-2 victory over Landenfield to wrap up the dual.

The Golden Wolves are back in action on January 7th when they host Alfred State College in another home dual in the PEC at 1:00 PM.
