Reading, Pa (February 23, 2024) - Shinelle Felix took second in the long jump and Cera Gaston took 5th in the 5,000m to lead Alvernia University on day one of the Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday night at Alvernia's Flynn PLEX. 

Shinelle Felix recorded a second place, 5.41m mark in the long jump to lead the Golden Wolves. Cera Gaston took fifth in the 5,000m with a time of 18:53.29 and the 4,000m DMR team tallied a time of 13:10.19 and an eighth place finish. 

Highlights 

• Felix grabbed silver in the long jump with a 5.41m mark. 
• Elisabeth Schwarz took second in her heat with a time of 7.94 and finished with the fourth best time overall in the 60m to advance to the finals tomorrow. 
• Cera Gaston recorded a 18:53.29 time in the 5,000m and tallied a fifth place finish. 
• The 4x200m relay team took tenth with a time of 1:51.99. 
• The 4,000 DMR team took eighth place with a new program-record time of 13:10.19. 

Personal Best 

• Akilah Hoxter tallied a personal best mark in the long jump with a 4.87m mark and finished in 11th place. 
• Caitlin Sternberg also recorded a personal best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.80 and placed third in her heat and grabbed a spot in the finals tomorrow.
