Reading, Pa (January 7, 2025) - Alvernia University recorded victories by pin in four matches en route to a 39-0 victory over Alfred State College in a non-conference women's wrestling dual Tuesday afternoon in Alvernia's Physical Education Center. 

How it Happened

• The dual started at the 131 pound bout with Alvernia's Danielle Ferrara facing off against Alfred State's Anna Sheahan. Ferrara gave the Golden Wolves the early lead after a 10-0 victory by technical superiority made it 4-0 Alvernia. 
• Abbigail Kohl then took on Brooke Walsh in the 138 pound match and Kohl recorded a pin in 1:02 to secure five points and make it a 9-0 Alvernia lead. 
• Kathryn Berger faced off against Ethe Hemphill from Alfred State in the 145 pound bout and Berger recorded the quickest pin of the day, a fall in just 23 seconds to make it 14-0. 
• Kylie Monroe followed Berger up with another pin in under a minute when she recorded a victory by fall over Emily Brown in the 160 pound bout in just 42 seconds to extend the lead to 19-0. 
• Alvernia's Macenzie Hunter then received a forfeit at the 180 pound match and Peyton Fries also received a forfeit at the 207 pound match. Alvernia then led 29-0. 
• There was a no-contest at the 103 pound weight class and then Alvernia's Grace Molloy received a forfeit at the 110 pound match to push the lead to 34-0. 
• Alana Durham then wrestled against Dianna Pineda from Alfred State in the final bout of the varsity match and recorded a victory by fall in the final five seconds of the first period to secure the 39-0 victory for the Golden Wolves. 
• The Golden Wolves and Pioneers then wrestled in three exhibition matches to round out the dual with the Golden Wolves taking all three matches. Danielle Ferrara recorded a victory by technical superiority over Evelissa Zayas with a 14-4 victory and then Abbigail Kohl tallied a pin in 30 seconds over Alfred State's Emily Brown. Kylie Monroe rounded things out with a 10-0 victory by technical superiority over Ethe Hemphill. 

Of Note

• The 39-0 victory is the first time Alvernia Women's Wrestling has shutout an opposing team in a dual style match. Alvernia held Utica to just five points in a 30-5 victory during the 2023-2024 season.
