Reading, Pa. (Nov. 10, 2025) - A total of three Alvernia Field Hockey student-athletes earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors for their performances during the 2025 season, and
Ava Michael was named the MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year, as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference on Monday.
Along with her Offensive Player of the Year honor, Ava Michael also earned First Team All-MAC Commonwealth as a forward. Kelsy McClintock earned Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth as a midfielder, and Sarah Schaffer earned Second Team All-MAC Commonwealth as a defender. Michael is the first Offensive Player of the Year recipient for Alvernia Field Hockey since Margaret Wentzel in 2016.
Michael, a junior, had a career-year for Alvernia. She finished with 18 goals and five assists on the year, starting and playing in all 19 of Alvernia's games. She finished the season with five game-winning goals, and had five multi-goal games. She scored two more points in 11 of Alvernia's 19 games. Michael also scored 10 of Alvernia's 15 goals scored in conference play, including all eight goals Alvernia scored across its final four games of conference play. Michael led the MAC Commonwealth in goals scored, scoring four more than the second leading goal scorer. She also led the conference in total points with 41, finishing with nine more points than the second leading point scorer. Her average of 0.95 goals per game ranked her 24th in the nation, and 2.16 points per game also ranked her 27th in the nation. Michael also finished tied for the lead in game-winning goals. This is Michael's first Player of the Year honor and her second All-MAC Commonwealth honor. She also earned First Team honors in 2024.
Kelsy McClintock, a sophomore, finished the season with eight goals and five assists for Alvernia. McClintock started and played in all 19 of Alvernia's games. She finished third for the Golden Wolves with 21 points. She also finished with two game-winning goals on the year for Alvernia. McClintock had eight multi-point games for the Golden Wolves, including a five-point performance off of two goals and an assist against Eastern. McClintock's 21 points ranked her 12th in the MAC Commonwealth, and she finished sixth in the conference with 64 shots on the year. This is McClintock's first All-MAC Commonwealth honor.Â
Sarah Schaffer, a sophomore, was the anchor of Alvernia's defense this season. Schaffer led Alvernia in minutes played at 1,179 and started and played in all 19 of Alvernia's games. She finished the season with two defensive saves, both of which game in a 6-1win against Eastern. Schaffer helped lead Alvernia's defense to a 1.79 opponent goals against average and a .140 opponent shot percentage. Alvernia's defense finished fourth in the MAC Commonwealth with a 1.79 goals against average and Alvernia was also fourth in the conference in total goals allowed at 34. This is Schaffer's first All-MAC Commonwealth honor.
Lillian Peters, a defender from Messiah, was named the MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year, and Albright first-year Bobbie Van Oordt was named MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year. The coaching staff of Stevenson University was named Staff of the Year.Â
