Golden Wolves Go 2-1 at Ursinus Quad Meet

Collegeville, Pa (February 8, 2025) - Alvernia University went 2-1 in non-conference women's wrestling action at the Ursinus Quad Meet Saturday afternoon at Ursinus. 

The Golden Wolves recorded a 30-15 win over McDaniel in the first match and then posted a 35-5 victory over Muhlenberg. The Golden Wolves then fell to the host, Ursinus, 29-15 in the final match of the day. 

How it Happened 

Match 1: McDaniel: 15, Alvernia: 30 
  • McDaniel took an early 10-0 lead after Alvernia forfeited the 103 pound match and Iyana Robinson recorded a fall over Grace Molloy in the 110 pound match. 
  • The Golden Wolves then swung the lead in their favor after they received forfeits at 117,131 and 138 pound bouts to make it 15-10 Alvernia. Alana Durham received a forfeit at 117, Danielle Ferrara earned one at 131 pounds and Abbigail Kohl received a forfeit at 138 pounds for Alvernia. 
  • Kathryn Berger then recorded a fall over Maria Samuel in just 36 seconds to make it a 20-10 Alvernia lead. 
  • Kayleigh Kehler then fell to Willow Arnold in the 160 pound bout before Macenzie Hunter received a forfeit at 180 pounds and Peyton Fries recorded a fall over Rowan Titus in the 207 pound match to secure the 30-15 victory for the Golden Wolves. 

Match 2: Muhlenberg: 5, Alvernia: 35
  • The Golden Wolves jumped out to a 15-0 lead after the first three bouts after Molloy and Durham received forfeits at 110 and 117 pounds and then Ferrara recorded a victory by fall over Alessandra Rodriguez in the 124 pound match. 
  • Kohl and Berger then recorded victories by fall in the 138 and 145 pound bouts to push the Alvernia lead to 25-0. 
  • Kehler fell to Kelsey Gelb by fall in the 160 pound bout to make it 25-5 Alvernia before Hunter recorded a victory by fall in the 180 pound bout and Fries tallied a pin in four seconds at the 207 pound bout to secure the 35-5 victory for Alvernia in match two. 

Match 2: Ursinus: 29, Alvernia: 15
  • Ursinus took an early 5-0 lead after Molloy fell to Olivia Guy in the 110 pound bout but Alvernia's Durham received a forfeit at 117 pounds to tie the match at five. 
  • Ursinus then took the lead and pushed it to 29-5 after victories at 124, 138,145 and 160 pounds and also received a forfeit at 131 pounds. 
  • Macenzie Hunter recorded a victory by fall over Gianna Perez at the 180 pound bout and Peyton Fries received a forfeit at 207 pounds but it was not enough as the Bears recorded a 29-15 victory over the Golden Wolves.
