Glass Powers Golden Wolves Past Knights, 4-3

Aston, Pa (March 12, 2025)  - Alvernia University (7-5) junior Joe Glass ripped a go ahead, RBI triple down the right field line to power the Golden Wolves to a 4-3 victory over Neumann University (4-3) Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference baseball matchup at Neumann's Bruder Field.

Neumann held a 2-1 lead heading into the top of the eighth but the Golden Wolves grabbed a run thanks to a pass ball to tie it at two. The Knights bounced back with a run in the bottom half to grab the 3-2 lead. The Golden Wolves tied it up in the top of the ninth after a Harold Ivery III RBI double to tie it at three. Joe Glass then pinch hit for the Golden Wolves and ripped the game winning RBI triple down the right field line to make it 4-3 Alvernia. Brad Coley came on to close it out for the Golden Wolves and struck out all three batters to secure the win for Alvernia.

How it Happened
  • Alvernia tallied the first run of the game in the top of the second inning after Jack Zabarsky reached on a Neumann throwing error and was then able to advance to second. Zabarsky then moved up to third after a groundout and was driven in by a Christopher Babkowski hard hit single through the left side of the infield to give Alvernia the early 1-0 lead.
  • The Knights grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth after two RBI singles gave Neumann the 2-1 advantage after four innings of play.
  • Neither team could push a run across until the Golden Wolves tied the game at two in the top of the eighth after a Neumann pass ball.
  • The Knights took the lead back in the bottom half of the inning after an RBI single to center gave Neumann the 3-2 lead.
  • The Golden Wolves tied it up in the top of the ninth after an RBI double into left field that scored Luke Jones and leveled the score at three.
  • Glass then stepped in to pinch hit and ripped an RBI triple into the right field corner that scored Ivery III and gave the Golden Wolves the 4-3 advantage.
  • Brad Coley came on in relief for Matt Mays and shut the Knights down 1,2,3 in the bottom of the ninth, all on strikeouts, to secure the win for the Golden Wolves.
