Reading, Pa (March 20, 2025) - Alvernia University (9-7) tallied a pair of 4-3 walk-off victories over Ursinus College (8-7) Thursday evening in a non-conference softball doubleheader in Angelica Park. 

The Golden Wolves grabbed the game one victory in the bottom of the 9th inning after an Ursinus error allowed the game winning run to score and secure the 4-3 victory. Brooke Hauck then ripped a game winning two RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to grab the game two victory and secure the sweep.

How it Happened 

• After two scoreless innings, the Bears got on the board first in the top of the third after a two run homer to right center put Ursinus up 2-0. 
• The Golden Wolves responded right away in the bottom of the third inning with two runs to tie it up. Alexia Fitzgerald led off the inning with a double into the left center gap and was then moved over to third after a groundout. Brooke Hauck then stepped up and laced an RBI triple into the right center gap to halve the Ursinus lead. Hauck then scored via a wild pitch to level the score at two after three innings 
• The Golden Wolves and the Bears then played the final four innings scoreless as it headed to extras. 
• The Bears took the lead in the top of the eighth inning after an RBI groundout pushed a run across and made it 3-2 Ursinus. 
• The Golden Wolves leveled it up at three in the bottom of the inning thanks to an Angelina Sponheimer sacrifice fly scored Hauck and tied it at three. 
• The Golden Wolves shut down the Bears in the top of the ninth and sent it to the bottom of the ninth locked at three. 
• Alvernia then loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth after a Payton Splain double and a Fitzgerald walk. The Golden Wolves were able to then plate the game winning run after a Ursinus error to walk it off and take game one, 4-3.

 How it Happened

• Ursinus struck first again in the top of the third inning after an RBI double to left scored a run and gave the Bears a 1-0 lead. 
• Alvernia responded yet again in the bottom half of the inning after a Summer Montgomery sacrifice fly to left scored Alexia Fitzgerald to tie the game at one after three innings of ball. 
• The Golden Wolves grabbed the lead in the home half of the fourth inning after Alexa Ullrich ripped an RBI double to score Taylor McClain and give Alvernia the 2-1 lead. 
• The Bears grabbed the lead back in the top of the seventh after a two RBI double down the right field line scored two runs and gave Ursinus a 3-2 lead. 
• Alvernia then walked it off in the bottom of the seventh inning when Brooke Hauck smoked a double into the left center gap to score Fitzgerald and Kalli Bunnell and secure the 4-3 victory for the Golden Wolves.
