Golden Wolves Fall to Knights, 13-4

Reading, Pa (April 1, 2025) - Arcadia University (17-7) used an eight run fourth inning to take down Alvernia University (13-11) 13-4, Tuesday evening in a non-conference baseball matchup in Angelica Park.

The Golden Wolves took a 3-1 lead after tallying three runs in the third inning but the Knights responded with an eight spot in the top of the fourth and then added four more in the eighth to secure the victory.

How it Happened
  • The Knights grabbed the early lead in the top of the first after a RBI single bounced off of third base and over Alvernia third baseman Evan Thomas' head and gave Arcadia a 1-0 lead.
  • The Golden Wolves responded in the home half of the third inning with a three-spot to grab the lead. RJ Emrich and Mike Pulcini started things off for the Golden Wolves with back to back singles to start the inning and an Arcadia error put them on second and third with no outs. Nathan Seidel then scored Emrich on a groundout to the shortstop and Jake Chapman plated Pulcini with an RBI single up the middle to bring the Golden Wolves within one.
  • The Golden Wolves capped the three run inning after Harold Ivery III singled to second and then advanced to second on a throwing error by the Knights that allowed Logan Nelson to score and gave Alvernia the 3-1 lead.
  • The Knights bounced back right away in the top of the fourth with a two run homer to left center off the bat of Max Oswald to tie the game at three.
  • Arcadia grabbed the lead later in the inning and added to it with six more runs to make it a 9-3 Arcadia lead. A bases loaded hit by pitch and a walk scored two runs, a two RBI single and an RBI single through the left side tacked on three more runs and an Alvernia error allowed the eighth run of the inning to score and make it a 9-3 ballgame.
  • Alvernia grabbed one back in the bottom of the fifth after a RBI groundout by Nelson made it a 9-4 ballgame.
  • The Knights tacked on four more runs in the top of the eighth inning to secure the 13-4 victory over the Golden Wolves.
