Bowling Takes Two Top-Five Finishes in Pittsburgh

Pittsburg, Pa. (Jan. 12, 2026) - Alvernia Women's Bowling posted a fourth and third place finish, respectively, on Saturday and Sunday at two events hosted by Saint Vincent College.

The Golden Wolves took fourth place in the traditional style Western Greater Pittsburgh Collegiate Classic on Saturday. Alvernia then followed with a third place finish at the Western Pennsylvania Baker Shootout on Sunday.

Greater Pittsburgh Collegiate Classic
The Golden Wolves finished six rounds of competition with 4,426 total pins. Mia Simintus led the Golden Wolves with a three-round pinfall average of 191. Her average ranked her sixth on the day in the field, and her highest game came in round one with a score of 217. Paige Aucker finished in 25th with an average of 159, and Kaitlyn Knopp finished in 27th with an average of 158.33.

Western PA Baker Shootout
The Golden Wolves took third place on the day with a total of 4,741 pins. Alvernia fell just shy of second place, with Shawnee State edging the Golden Wolves by 16 pins. The host Bearcats took first place with a total of 5,155 pins.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday, January 31st for the first of the two-day Chestnut Hill Griffin Baker Classic.
