Alvernia Secures Trip to AMCC Championship Match

Pittsburgh, Pa. (March 21, 2026) - Alvernia Women's Bowling won the consolation bracket with two wins on Saturday to punch their ticket to Championship Sunday at the 2026 AMCC Women's Bowling Championship, hosted at Pine Plaza Lanes in Pittsburgh, Pa.

After going 1-1 on Friday, Alvernia had to win to stay in on Saturday. The Golden Wolves started their day with an elimination mega match over No. 5 Hilbert. Hilbert got off to the early lead, taking the traditional format game by a score of 939-837. Paige Aucker led Alvernia with a 204 in the traditional format, and Lacey Slaymaker bowled a 180. Alvernia evened the mega match in the best of five Baker match. The Golden Wolves took the Baker series, 894-883. Alvernia's highest game came in the final game of the best of five with a score of 212.

With the match evened at 1-1, the mega match moved into a best of seven Baker series. Alvernia took games one and two with scores of 168 and 215. Hilbert came back and tied teh series at 2-2 with wins in games three and four. Alvernia won game five by just ten points, 185-175 to take the one game lead. The Golden Wolves then secured the mega match with a game six win of 167-159.

With Alvernia's win over Hilbert, the Golden Wolves moved on for a rematch with No. 2 William Smith, who handed Alvernia its loss on Friday. William Smith took the early mega match lead with a 958-823 win in the traditional team format match. Alvernia was led by a 202 from Mia Siminitus and a 164 from Aucker. Alvernia came back in the best of five Baker match, taking the match by a total score of 932-875 to even the mega match at 1-1. Alvernia won the first three Bakers matches of the best of five series. The Golden Wolves dropped the fourth match but closed out the series with a 202 to take game five and force the best of seven Baker series.

Alvernia took game one of the best of seven with a score of 181-161. The Herons evened the match at 1-1 with a 207-181 win in game two. The Herons then took game three, 193-171, to take the 2-1 lead. But, Alvernia stormed back and evened the series at 2-2 with a 192-158 game four win, and took the 3-2 lead with a 179-170 win in game five. Alvernia won the best of seven with a bang, taking game six by a score of 244-189 to secure the win and punch their ticket to Sunday with the mega match victory.

Alvernia will take on No. 1 Saint Vincent beginning at 9:30 AM on Sunday morning. If Alvernia defeats St. Vincent in the mega match, the two teams will face each other in a winner take all best of seven Baker series.
