Trio of Athletes Earn MAC Player of the Week Honors

Reading, Pa. (Feb. 24, 2026) - A trio of Alvernia athletes earned MAC Player of the Week honors for their performances during the week of February 15 - February 22, 2026.

Elijah Hamilton was named the MAC Commonwealth Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Leo Cabulis was named the MAC Men's Ice Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, and Taryn Woodson was named the MAC Commonwealth Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Elijah Hamilton averaged 29.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Golden Wolves. Hamilton shot 60.5% from the field, going 23-for-38. He also finished the week with four blocks and four assists. In a must win game against Eastern on Tuesday, Hamilton posted 24 points and ten rebounds to lead Alvernia to an 80-57 win. He shot 11-for-18 from the floor and had three assists and three blocks. In an 86-75 win over Messiah on Saturday, Hamilton scored 35 points off of 12-for-20 shooting with an 11-for-13 performance from the free throw line. He also finished with nine rebounds and a block.

Leo Cabulis netted the overtime game-winner to help Alvernia finish the regular season in the win column with a 2-1 win over Lebanon Valley. Cabulis netted the game-winner with just 34 seconds remaining in extra time. He finished the night with four shots on goal and also went 13-for-21 on the faceoff. 

Taryn Woodson averaged 15 points and seven rebounds in a 1-1 week for Alvernia. She shot 45.5% from the floor (10-for-22) and 77% from the line (10-for-13). She also had four blocks, three assists, and a steal. In a 50-47 win over Eastern on Tuesday, Woodson scored 15 points in just 21 minutes of action. She went 6-for-16 with four rebounds and a block. In a 53-44 loss to Messiah, Woodson had another 15 point performance. She went 4-for-6 from the field and 7-for-10 from the line. She also had ten rebounds and three blocks.

Men's and Women's Basketball are back in action on Wednesday in MAC Commonwealth semifinal action. Men's Basketball is at Hood and Women's Basketball is at Widener. Men's Ice Hockey is in action on Saturday for a MAC semifinal matchup against Neumann.
