Alvernia Opens Outdoor Season in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. (March. 21, 2026) - Alvernia Women's Track and Field opened its 2026 outdoor season down at the Betty S. Rogers Invitational, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach on Saturday.

Brooke Hall set a new personal record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:18.23 to take first place. She also set a new PR in the 100m hurdles with a sixth place time of 19.33 seconds. Hall was also the first leg of Alvernia's 4x100m relay team that took second place with a time of 52.62 seconds. She was joined by Samantha Wallace, Giavanni Gibson, and Britney Anyia.

Paige Jerrahian had a pair of second place finishes for the Golden Wolves. She ran the 1,500m for the first time in her career and finished with a time of 5:04.08. She also took second in the 800m with a time of 2:30.92.

In the field, both Maria Skulski and Alex Ficalora set new personal records. Ficalora hit a mark of 18.62 meters in the discus to take 14th place with a new PR. Skulski posted a 9.02 meter mark in the shot put to take 9th place with a new PR. Skulski competed in three other throwing events for the Golden Wolves. She took fourth in the hammer with a mark of 28.66 meters, seventh in the javelin with a mark of 21.44 meters, and eighth in the discus with a mark of 24.44 meters.

Alvernia is back in action on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28 at the Widener University Danny Curan Invitational.
