High Powered Penn State Berks Freezes Vern

Reading, Pa (Nov. 22, 2005) - The PSU-Berks nationally ranked program continud to show it depth in 10-3 lopsided victory.  The Crusaders struggled early, but played respectfully in a physical contest that became plagued with penalties.

A challenging PSU  “B” squad out-skated their opponents with multiple lines of talent which share time with the more dominant varsity squad.  Despite the temporary setback, the team continues to draw excitement with gritty efforts.  Chris Pratt demonstrated his offensive prowess with another multiple goal game.  Defenseman Tom Scogna contributed with two assists and played solid in what was a busy night in Alvernia’a defensive zone.  Forward Bill Heller left the game with a slight ankle sprain but did not leave without a fanfare.
The “penalty shot" considered the most exciting play in hockey
would highlight the second period.  Heller was tripped on a clean breakaway and awarded a rarely called penalty shot.  Skating tentatively, Heller snaked a low shot past a sprawled out PSU netminder.  The Crusaders were also supported with strong efforts from freshman Chris Sohnenand, Chris Bell.  The team looks to better its performance Dec. 3 vs. East Stroudsburg, and skate into the Christmas break on a high note.
