Sothern And Bittner Score For Crusaders

BOX SCORE

Arlington, Va. (Sept. 29, 2006) – Eight different Crusaders tallied one shot each and two of them found the back of the net as Lisa Sothern (Philadelphia, PA/Cardinal Dougherty) and Kristina Bittner (Boothwyn, PA/Cardinal O’Hara) scored to lead Alvernia to a 2-1 win over Marymount University Friday night under the lights at Marymount.

Sothern scored unassisted in the 16th minute of play and Bittner converted a pass from Brandi Light (Myerstown, PA/Tulpehocken) in the 54th minute.  Marymount responded quickly with a goal from Alisha Parker just over 90 seconds after the Bittner goal to cut the lead in half, but the Crusaders held off Marymount to pick up their third win of the season.

Marymount held a 20-10 advantage in shots, but Alvernia keepers Danielle Fitzpatrick (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) and Katie Einsel (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) made five saves each to preserve the win.

Alvernia is scheduled to return to the conference schedule next Wednesday with an afternoon trip to Marywood University.
