Walsh Tops Point Park In Tourny Opener

Reading, Pa (November 16, 2007) - The Cavaliers from Walsh University improved their record to 2-0 as they defeated Point Park University by a score of 110-83 this evening in the opening game of the 10th annual Tom Masano/Sheraton Reading Tip-Off Tournament.

The only time the Cavaliers spent chasing down Point Park was in the opening minutes of the game when they fell behind 0-2, after that it was all Walsh as they never relinquished the lead after second minute of the game.  Point Park closed the gap to within six with 15 minutes remaining but couldn't hang with the Cavaliers. 

Point Park senior guard Chivas Whipple (Youngstown, OH) led all scorers with 24 points and senior Cory Jones (Avon Lake, OH) led the Cavaliers with 19 points.  Walsh University finished with five players in double digits.

Walsh will face game-two winner Scranton in Saturday's championship game at 3:00 pm and Point Park will take on host Alvernia College in the consolation game at 1:00 pm.
