Rhiannon Sorrentino (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) each had two hits for Alvernia.
In the first game the Falcons used four hits and two walks to score seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. They never looked back, adding two runs over the next two innings and four more in the fourth inning. Messiah's ace Jessica Rhoads struck out nine Crusaders over four innings and allowed just two base runners on two hits.
The Falcons came back in the second game with their ace Rhoads who again shut down Alvernia, this time allowing four hits, Alvernia starter
Michelle Jensen(Holland, NJ/Delaware Valley) started with the a three-up-three down first inning, but the Falcon bats struck for five runs in the second inning and one more in the third. Jensen held Messiah scoreless through the final four innings, but Alvernia could not muster much offense and the game ended 6-0 for the Falcons.
The Crusaders will take on Delaware Valley at home on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00pm in a non-conference doubleheader.
