Reading, Pa. (May 27, 2026) - Five Alvernia University Softball student-athletes earned Academic All-District honors for their performances in the classroom and on the field as announced by College Sports Communicators (CSC).
The 2026 Academic All-District Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, and hold at least a 3.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Student-athletes must either compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.
Selected for the honor for Alvernia were senior Kalli Bunnell, senior Meryn Bellacima, sophomore Savannah Richards, junior Taylor McClain and sophomore Angelina Sponheimer. Bunnell and Bellacima graduated earlier this month with respective degrees in Education and Biochemistry. Richards is pursuing her degree in Biology, McClain is pursuing her degree in Education, and Sponheimer is dual-majoring in Finance and Accounting.
