Spielman, McClain Earn MAC Player of the Week Honors

Reading, Pa.(April 21, 2026) - Alvernia Women's Golf senior Grace Spielman and Softball junior Taylor McClain earned MAC Player of the Week honors for their respective performances during the week of April 12 - April 19, 2026.

Spielman fired a career-low round of 71 to earn her first career low medalist honor at the MAC Preview on Wednesday. Spielman's 71 was a career low, and bettered her previous career low by 11 strokes. She carded seven birdies on the day. It marked Alvernia's lowest single round score in nearly two years.

Taylor McClain batted .421 with eight hits, eight RBIs, nine walks, and eight runs scored. She finished the 4-2 week for Alvernia with a .607 on base percentage and did not strike out once on the week. In the series against DeSales on Tuesday, McClain went a combined 4-7 with five RBIs and two runs scored. She was walked a combined three times. In a sweep over Dickinson on Thursday, McClain went a combined 2-for-5 and was walked four times. She capped off the week with a 2-for-7 performance against York where she was walked twice, drove in two runs, and scored twice herself.

Women's Golf is back in action on May 2nd and 3rd for the 2026 MAC Women's Golf Championship. Softball is back in action this afternoon at Elizabethtown.
