Alvernia Returns To Action With 56-50 Loss to Randolph-Macon

Hahn Makes Return With Nine Points

BOX SCORE San Juan, Puerto Rico (Dec. 18, 2011) - Alvernia University (4-4) returned to the hardwood after a 13-day break for finals with a 56-50 loss to Randolph-Macon College in non-conference women's basketball action at the University of Sacred Heart Gymnasium in San Juan.

The Crusaders got nine points apiece from Angela Altemose (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) and Julie Hahn (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) who made her own return from injury after playing just 12 minutes in the season-opener vs. Grove City.  Brittany Graham Young (Columbus, N.J./North Burlington) scored seven for the Crusaders and Chelsea Gieringer (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Both teams struggled from long range hitting a combined 3-for-16 from the 3-point line.  Alvernia hit just 1-of-6 and also failed to take care of the ball handing out seven assists to 25 turnovers.  The Yellow Jackets held a 28-26 lead at the break.

Alvernia completes the Puerto Rico playing schedule facing the University of Scranton on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
