Brock Laubenstine and senior
Mike Moran combined for the fourth no-hitter in school history. Laubenstine took to the mound for Alvernia and shut down the Knights without allowing a hit in six innings of work while striking out eight batters and allowing only two runners to reach second in the game before giving way for Moran. Laubenstine and Moran combined to close out the no-hit bid while recording at least one strikeout in each inning against the Knights.
At the plate, the Crusaders found themselves walking around the bases en route to a 13-0 win as the Martin Luther pitchers combined for 14 walks while giving up six hits to the Crusaders.
The Crusaders were led at the plate by junior catcher Matt O'Neil who went 2-for-2 with two walks and two RBI's and
Chris Ray who went 2-for-3 with two singles. Alvernia scored three runs in the first two innings before breaking the game open with a six run third.
The Crusaders added four more runs in the seventh without recording a hit bringing the final count to 13-0. Alvernia improved their season record to 4-1 with four games remaining on the spring break trip.
The Crusaders are off on Wednesday, but returns to action in Ft. Pierce on Thursday when they take on Northwestern at 10:00 a.m.
