Orlando, Fl. (Mar. 6, 2012) - Alvernia (4-0) pitchers Deanna Dungee (North Wales, Pa./ North Penn), Danielle Kitchen (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) and Brittanie Wolfe (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area) held Cedar Crest (2-2) scoreless through 12 innings as Alvernia swept the doubleheader this morning at the Disney Spring Training Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. The Crusaders took the first game 7-0 and the second game 11-0 in 4.5 innings.

In the opening game, Alvernia scored early with a run in the top of the first off an RBI single from Shannon Grim (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown). They added another two in the fourth, two more in the fifth off a two-out, two-RBI double from Dungee, and two more in the sixth concluded the scoring. Dungee was solid in the circle through six innings, allowing just one hit and striking out six. Wolfe came in to finish the job in the seventh and promptly retired the side in order.

Game two was more of the same, with an early run in the first inning, again off an RBI single from Grim. Alvernia exploded for seven runs in the second, highlighted by two-RBI hits from Kitchen and Diane Lightner (Gaithersburg, Md./Acad. of the Holy Cross). Another run in the third and two more in the fourth was all the Crusaders would need for the 11-0, eight run rule victory. Kitchen was impressive in the circle through five innings, giving up just two hits to the Falcons.

Felicia McKenna (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) was 4-for-7 with two runs scored, Dungee was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Grim was 3-for-4 with two walks, four RBIs and two runs scored.
