Glenside, Pa. (Apr. 17, 2012) - Arcadia University earned the match's deciding point with a three-set win at No. 5 singles to take a 5-4 win over Alvernia University (6-5, 1-2) Tuesday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference men's tennis action at Weiss Courts.

Arcadia took a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches with an 8-1 win at No. 3 and a close-fought 9-8 decision at No. 2.  The Crusaders fought back with wins at each of the top three singles flights.  Nate Bauer (Washington Township, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) and Dan Minnich (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) earned identical 6-0, 6-1 wins at No. 1 and 2 singles then Will Gerber (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) pulled off a comeback win at No. 3 singles, 4-6, 6-1, 10-8.  Arcadia earned wins at No. 4 and 6 then Herminio Quinones finished a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles to give the victory to the Knights.

Alvernia returns to action hosting Baptist Bible College Thursday for a non-conference match.
