Union, NJ (May 12, 2012) - The Crusader Softball team's run through the NCAA Championships has ended with a 0-3 loss to second seeded Moravian College (35-10). The Greyhounds jumped ahead of Alvernia (38-11) 1-0 in the first inning, and added two solo homeruns later in the game for the 3-0 win.
The Crusaders surrendered a run in the first inning off of three hits, but escaped without further damage as Moravian left two on base. Despite managing just six hits all game, the Greyhounds connected for solo homeruns in the fourth and sixth inning to secure the win.
Alvernia's bats were stymied the entire game as they connected for just three hits through seven innings. With the loss, Alvernia concludes their season with a program-record 38 wins to just 11 losses for a .776 winning percentage - also a program record.
Alvernia is now 2-2 all-time at the NCAA Regionals.

Penk And Galanti Named To Regional All-Tournament Team
Sophomores
Samantha Penk (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) and
Amanda Galanti (Red Bank, NJ./Marine Acad. of Sci./Tech) were named the to the Regional All-Tournament Team as announced by the tournament committee at the end of play on Sunday.
Second basemen Penk was flawless on defense and batted 5-for-14 (.357) with a homerun, five RBIs and two runs scored. Designated Player Galanti started the tournament with a ridiculous 4-for-4 performace against TCNJ and ended at 7-for-10 through the entire regional tournament. She had three RBIs and a run scored.
