Reading, Pa. (Sept. 17, 2012) - Alvernia University (1-0) opened the season with a 9-0 win over Penn State-Berks (0-1) Monday afternoon in non-conference men's tennis action at Berks.

The Crusaders jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play dropping just five games in the three matches.  They continued the strong performance getting straight-set wins in all six singles matches with a trio of freshmen earing their first collegiate wins.

Alvernia continues the fall schedule with the home opener on Thursday against Penn State-Harrisburg.
