Arsenault Fires 74 To Lead Crusaders At F&M

Alvernia Finishes 11th of 19

COMPLETE RESULTS

Lancaster, Pa. (Sept. 23, 2013) - Sophomore Zach Arsenault (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) shot 3-over 74 and finished fifth overall leading Alvernia University to a 329 team total and 11th place out of 19 teams at the Franklin & Marshall Men's Golf Invitational Monday afternoon at Bent Creek Country Club.

Arsenault was dealing early in his round.  He started on the par 4 11th with a par then birdied three of his next four holes to get to 3-under thru five.  He dropped two shots with back-to-back bogies at 16 and 17 then ran off four straight pars before birdies at 4 and 6 to get back to 3-under with four to play.

Arsenault ran into a bit of trouble at the driveable, par 4 7th.  He hit his tee shot out of bounds then missed a short putt for double to fall back to even par.  He found the water hazard on 8 and 3-putted from above the hole on 9 to go three over on the day.  He finished with a par at 10 to post 74.

Junior Chris Van Natta (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) also had it going early.  He started on the par 5 12th making par from the right rough.  He missed a good look at birdie on the par 3 13th before a 3-putt bogey from the fring on 14.  He made par on each of the last four holes on the back nine, but started the front with a string of bogies at 1, 2, and 3.  He followed that with doubles on 4 and 5 before pars at three of the last four on the front.  He then finished with two more bogies at 10 and 11 to post 83.

Sophomore Brett Fernandes (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee), who won at F&M with a 1-under 70 last fall as a freshman, didn't have quite the same start.  He made a triple and a quad over his first five holes and was 9-over.  Fernandes was able to right the ship playing his final 13 holes in 3-over par including even par on the final five.

Junior R.J. Cummings (Moorestown, N.J./Bishop Eustace) had an equally troubling start posting a 10 on the par 4 17th after some repeat OB trouble off the tee.  He was able to salvage a score making three birdies over his final six holes.

Junior Corey Crafford (Princeton, N.J./Lawrence) was the fifth player in the lineup Monday and posted a 95.

Alvernia returns to action next Monday at the Muhlenberg Invitational hosted by Lehigh Country Club.
