Crusaders Win At Philadelphia University

Fernandes And Van Natta Shoot 77

Lafayette Hill, Pa. (Apr. 21, 2014) - Junior Chris Van Natta (Easton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) and sophomore Brett Fernandes (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) both shot 77 to finish in a tie for second place and lead Alvernia University to a 319 team total and first place at the Philadelhpia University Tri-Match Monday afternoon hosted by The ACE Club.

Zach Arsenault (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) shot 82 and R.J. Cummings (Moorestown, N.J./Bishop Eustace) rounded out the counting scores with an 83.

Van Natta and Fernandes both posted 2-over 38 on the front nine and returned in 39.  Both players carded a pair of birdies on the front nine.  Van Natta birdied the par 4 1st and the par 4 5th.  Fernandes nearly holed his approach for eagle on the 2nd and settled for tap-in birdie.  He also rolled in a birdie on the par 4 7th.

Cummings birdied two of the last three holes on the front side to make the turn in 39 then posted a 44 on the back nine.  Arsenault made one biride on the day stuffing a 9-iron to kick-in range at the par 5 finishing hole.

The Crusaders are back in action Tuesday at the Ursinus Invitational hosted by Stonewall then return to Hershey CC Saturday and Sunday for the Commonwealth Championship.
