Crusaders Advance 10-1 Over Lebanon Valley

Weinhold Goes The Distance For Crusaders

York, Pa. (May 2, 2014) – Second-seeded Alvernia University (26-12) pounded out 13 hits and scored 10 runs in a 10-1 win over Lebanon Valley College (20-19) in the first elimination game of the Commonwealth Conference Baseball Championships at Santander Stadium.
 
The Crusaders scored a run in the first on a Zach Nadolny (Sparks, Md./Bel Air) double off the green wall in left.  The Dutchmen tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth before Alvernia posted four runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth for a commanding 9-1 lead.
 
Mike Weinhold (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) went the distance for the Crusaders on 114 pitches giving up one run on six hits with 11 strikeouts.
 
Nadolny continued his torrid hitting going 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs.  Santino Alteri (Watertown, N.Y./Immaculate Heart Central) went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.
 
The Crusaders return to action at 7:00 Friday evening against the loser of the winners bracket final between #1 Widener and #3 Messiah.
