Emily Gilbert shot 84 at earned individual low medalist honors for the fourth time in as many starts leading Alvernia University to a 417 team total and second place at the Albright College Invitational Thursday afternoon hosted by Berkshire Country Club.
Gilbert finished two strokes ahead of Albright's Heather MacQuarrie. Alvernia sophomore
Cayla McCarty shot 95 to finish in fourth place,
Emily Sabo shot 115, and
Jordan Kissner posted a 123.
Albright won the invittaional shooting 412.
Gilbert trailed MacQuarrie by three strokes through the first six holes, but saw a 4-shot swing in her favor on the par 4 seventh when she made a four to MacQuarrie's eight. She extended her lead by a stroke on each hole from nine through 12. MacQuarrie cut the 4-shot deficit in half by the 14th hole, but the players matched cards the rest of the way.
Alvernia continues the fall schedule at the Kutztown two-day tournament starting this Sunday at Berkleigh Golf Club.
