Abbottstown, Pa. (Oct. 3, 2015) - Senior Brett Fernandes shot 77 to lead Alvernia University to a 330 team total and 15th place after Day One of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Men's Golf Invitational hosted by McDaniel College at The Bridges.

Fernandes went out in 4-over 40 with one birdie on the front nine then carded eight pars and a bogey on the back nine to post 77.  He was one of 50 players in the 77-player field to break 80 on a day when recent rains allowed for lift, clean, and place all over the golf course.

Sophomore Keith Noonan posted 82, and freshmen Tommy Godin and Callum McCaslin shot 85 and 86 respectively.

Allegheny College posted a 296 to lead the team event by six strokes over McDaniel.  Gettysburg's Dane Sethre-Hofstad shot even par 72 to lead the individual field.
