Abbottstown, Pa. (Oct. 4, 2015) - Alvernia University had three players break 80 led by senior
Brett Fernandes who posted a 76 and the Crusaders shot 316 Sunday for a two-day total 646 and 15th place at the Mason-Dixon Men's Golf Collegiate Classic hosted by McDaniel College at The Bridges Golf Club.
Fernandes finished in a tie for 25th place at 153.
Keith Noonan shot 78 on Sunday followed by
Tommy Godin at 79 and
Zach Stricker at 83.
Allegheny won the team event shooting 591 to finish nine strokes clear of McDaniel. Allegheny's Jeff Clemente shot 69 on Sunday to claim low medalist honors at 143. He's the first player to break par over 36 holes at the Mason-Dixon.
Fernandes had two bogies on the front nine to go with seven pars then made a double on 10 to go 4-over for the day. He ran off eight straight pars to finish the round. Noonan went out in 40 and made a birdie with three bogies on the back to shoot 38. Godin went 4-over through his first four holes then carded five straight pars to close the front. He had six pars and three bogies on the back. Stricker had his best round of the season capped by a 30-foot birdie on the par 5 18th.
Alvernia heads back out on Monday at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational.
