Emily Gilbert posted an 81 to lead Alvernia University to a 400 team total and sixth place out of eight teams after Day One of the Kutztown Women's Golf Invitational Sunday at Moselem Sprints Golf Club.
Gilbert, who has earned individual low medalist in each of her first four collegiate starts, sits in second place just a stroke behind individual leader Jamie Wharton from Millersville.
Gilbert played the front nine in 42 and came back in 39. Caryla McCarty shot 101 for the Crusaders,
Emily Sabo posted 105, and
Jordan Kissner finished at 113.
Millersville shot 336 and holds a 13 shot lead over both West Chester and Millersville.
The Crusaders return to Moselem Springs for day two of the event on Monday.
