Reading, Pa. (Apr. 1, 2015) - Messiah College (1-6, 1-0) squeezed out wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles to start the day with a 3-0 lead and swept through the singles matches in a 9-0 win over Alvernia University (3-5, 0-1) Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference men's tennis action at Angelica Park.
The Crusaders' team of
Kyle Clark and
Ben Daubenspeck pushed the No. 2 doubles match into an extra game where Messiah earned a 9-7 win. The Falcons took an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.
Dan Minnich was able to split his first two sets at No. 1 singles with Messiah's Mike Brookhart before Brookhart took the match with a 10-7 win in the third set.
Alvernia continues the conference schedule Thursday at Stevenson University.
