Gilbert and McCarty both started the invitational on the par 5 first. Gilbert went out in 37 with two bogies and a birdie at the 495-yard par 5 seventh. She played the first four holes on the back in five over before carding a birdie 2 at the 117-yard par 3 14th. She followed with a bogey at 15 then three straight pars to close.
McCarty had a stretch of four straight bogies on the front nine, but also bounced back with a birdie 2 at the 140-yard par 3 sixth. She made a double on 9 to go out in 41 then carded five pars and four bogies on the back nine to finish at 9-over 80.
Alvernia returns to action next Thursday at Albright.
