Emily Gilbert shot an 87 and sits tied for the lead after the first day of the Middle Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championships Sunday afternoon hosted by Hershey Country Club's East Course.
Gilbert shot 43 on the front and came back with 44 on the back nine. She sits tied with Lebanon Valley's Megan Kimmel, and both have a 3-shot lead over Stevenson's Emily Haas.
Stevenson leads the team event after posting a 379. Lebanon Valley is six shots off the pace at 385. Alvernia is in fifth place after day one at 419.
Sophomore
Cayla McCarty shot 96 for the Crusaders and is tied for 11th place.Â
Jordan Kissner shot 112 and
Marisa Lombardo posted a 124.
Gilbert opened her day with bogies at 1 and 2 before a par at the difficult, 390-yard par 4 third. She was 8-over thru eight holes then closed the front nine with a birdie at the 290-yard par 4 ninth. She carded pars at 13 and 15 on the back nine then had three straight bogies to close her round at 87.
Monday's final round tees off at 8:00 a.m. again on the East Course.
