Dallas, Pa. (Sept.13, 2016) - Alvernia University (1-0) captured a 7-2 victory over Misericordia University (0-1) in its fall season opener Tuesday afternoon in non-conference Men's Tennis action.
The Crusaders claimed wins in each match-up they played, with the pair of missed points coming by way of forfeit in No.3 doubles and No.6 singles.
Alvernia put together mirror performances in No.1 and No.2 doubles to open the day, taking 8-3 wins in both.
Luke Hangen represented the Crusaders in No.1 singles, taking straight set wins, 6-1, 6-2.
Colin MacCloskey and
Antonio Gaetani took No.2 and No.3 singles, respectively, both with straight set wins of 6-2, 6-3.
Todd Unger did not allow a point at No.4 singles, clinching both sets 6-0.
Jimmy Souders rounded out the day for Alvernia with straight set wins of his own, taking the second set 6-3 after keeping his opponent pointless in the first set.
Alvernia takes to its home court next Tuesday, hosting Cabrini College at 3:30 p.m.
