Allentown, Pa (April 3, 2017) – Sophomore
Emily Gilbert shot 81 and earned her tenth career low medalist honor, leading Alvernia University to a 409 team total and a second place finish at the Muhlenberg Invitational, hosted by Lehigh Country Club.
Gilbert opened her day with a double-bogey on the 330-yard par 4 second before posting her first of nine pars on the day at the 166-yard par 3 third. Gilbert would go on to bogey the par 4 fifth, but carded a par on the long, 500-yard par 5 sixth. She finished the first eight holes five-over par.
On the back nine, Gilbert started off strong, again posting two consecutive pars on the par 4 tenth and par 5 eleventh. After bogeying the twelfth, Gilbert posted two more pars on the par 3 13
th, and par 5 14
th. Gilbert bogeyed the final four holes of the back nine before finishing her day with her ninth par of the round on her last hole, the par 4 first.
The combined 5-over 35 on the front nine and 6-over 35 on the back nine paced Gilbert to a low medalist 81, edging out Ursinus's Emily McCarrigle by one stroke.

Rebecca Brosious shot a 132 for the Crusaders.
Alvernia returns to action this Friday at the MAC Preview, hosted by Hershey Country Club (east), where the MAC Conference Championship will be held April 22-23.
