Reading, Pa. (Apr. 24, 2018) - Junior Emily Gilbert shot 83 and senior Cayla McCarty shot 87 to lead Alvernia University to a 358 team total and a tie for fourth place out of five teams at the Alvernia Women's Golf Invitational Tuesday afternoon hosted by LedgeRock Golf Club.
Jordan Kissner shot 92 and Brianna Hocker rounded out the counting scores with a 96.
West Chester University shot 318 to claim the team title.
Gilbert opened her day with a birdie at the par 3 10th and was even through her first four holes. Â She made double at 14 and a triple at the difficult par 4 17th before a bogey at 18 to turn in six over. Â She bookended a three-hole run of pars with bogeys at 1 and 5. She followed with three straight bogeys before capping the day with a par at the ninth.
McCarty also made a birdie at the par 3 10th. Â She carded five bogeys, two pars, and a quad on the back to turn in 8-over 44 then shot 42 on the front with three pars.
