Hershey, Pa. (April 6, 2018) - Junior
Emily Gilbert posted a round of 84 to earn her 16th career low medalist honors, and leading Alvernia University to a second place team finish with a score of 375 at the MAC Preview hosted by Hershey Country Club (East).
Gilbert finished three strokes ahead of the runner-up in a field that will be nearly identical to what the Golden Wolves will face at the MAC Championships in a just a couple of weeks.
Gilbert started the day off with a triple bogey on the par 4 9th before settling in for a par on the par 4 11th. Gilbert went on to par four more on the back nine to take a 43 going into the turn. The junior improved by two strokes, posting a 41 and five pars, on the front nine.
Finishing 12 strokes behind Gilbert and in sixth place overall was fellow junior
Jordan Kissner. Kissner's round was highlighted with a par the 350 yard par 4 fourth, which was playing straight into high, gusty winds.

Faith Hughes finished a stroke behind Kissner with a round of 97. Hughes had an impressive back nine, carding four pars for a back nine 42.

Briana Hocker and senior
Cayla McCarty each posted a 98 on the day. Hocker got out to a fast start with two pars on her first two holes, including a clutch 15 foot breaking putt on the par 4 10th. McCarty's round was highlighted by back-to-back pars on the par 3 2nd and par 4 3rd.

Hannah Smith played as an individual for the Golden Wolves and posted a 120.
Stevenson University took first place with a team total of 369.
Alvernia's spring season gets into full swing over the next week, with the Golden Wolves playing three matches in three days. The first match of the stretch is on Sunday at Moselem Springs for the Kutztown Invite.
Alvernia's spring season will conclude where it started today with the MAC Championships on April 21-22 at Hershey East.
